Aired on the BBC, this contemporary spin on the famous Sherlock Holmes novels has claimed the highest international accolades for television programmes. Martin Freeman plays John Watson, an army doctor who is wounded in Afghanistan and invalided out of the Army. His return to London leads him to search for accommodation and to share a flat with Benedict Cumberbatch’s brilliant, though eccentric, private detective Sherlock Holmes. Together they solve baffling and often bizarre murder mysteries. They also have to compete with Holmes’ nemesis: the criminal genius Moriarty.
