La Vie En Rose is the acclaimed, internationally awarded biopic of the legendary French singer Édith Piaf, starring Marion Cotillard in an Oscar-winning performance. Piaf’s mother is an alcoholic street singer, her father a circus performer, her paternal grandmother a madam, and during childhood she lives with each of them. At 20 she is discovered by a club owner when singing on the streets of Paris – fuelled by alcohol – who gives her the nickname ‘Little Sparrow’. After he is murdered, a songwriter and accompanist takes her under his tutelage and introduces her to concert halls. Fame quickly ensues, though are accompanied by heavy alcohol use and tragedy, which lead to her premature death.
